Hello! I was wondering if anybody will be in the commune of Reggio di Calabria in the near future and could look up two individuals.

I am looking for the birth certificate of Stefano Delfino and Antonio Delfino. Stefano was born on January 26th 1892 and Antonio was born March 14th 1893.

The father is Paulo Delfino but we are not entirely sure of the mother. We have a hunch her first name may be Angela--possibly Angela Bernestri or Angela Verdy.

I would be willing to pay a small fee for your time over Paypal as I understand it can be a hassle.

My e-mail is lcannuli @ gmail.com

- Liam

If your data are right you will get the answer next wednesday. Looking at the surnames of the mother I think het surname should be Pernestri, but we'll see.

Thank you very much! We know Antonio was born in the district of Gallina if that makes the search any easier. It's also possible but pretty unlikely that Antonio and Stefano have different mothers.

I was just going to suggest Ben's site! We are so fortunate to him him here. I hope you get what you're looking for!

That is really important information. I was going to look at the births of Reggio Calabria and my search would have been (as so many times) in vain. The Gallina district included in that period Gallina, Armo, Trunca, Valanidi and Arangea. As you can order only 6 volumes a day in the R.C. archive (and I need something for myself too of course) I will take a look at births of Gallina tomorrow.

Thank you again. So if I'm understanding correctly, you have to look in the individual district's records rather than a comune-wide database?

I believe that is exactly what Ben is saying as to my knowledge in the Archives there is not a comune wide database. This is why the town of birth is important in Italian research. Ben will have to view the volumes page by page to see if he can find what you are looking for. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you nuccia Smile I'm hoping Stefano was born in the same district as Antonio as they were born only a year apart but I only know he was born in the comune of Reggio di Calabria. I've been working with a relative I found on Facebook who is also trying to get Italian citizenship. Her great-grandfather is Antonio, mine is Stefano. Thank you again apiapibij!

There are several Paolo Delfino in that period in Gallina. I looked at the marriages from 1883 till 1896. Unfortunately your Paolo did not marry in Gallina.
Paolo Delfino and Angela Pennestrì (with an accent on the i) had a daughter called Giovanna born 23 february 1891. Paolo at that moment had the age of 29. Their son Antonio was born 23 may 1892, Paolo was than estimated to be 32. Unfortunately the foto's of this birthact are very bad.
I did not find Stefano in Gallina looking through the registers of 1891 untill 1894.

Hmm that's confusing info about Antonio because on his marriage certificate he lists his birth as March 14th 1893, his parents Paolo and Angela Bernestri and Gallina as his birthplace...And unfortunate about Stefano. Anyways thank you so much for your efforts!
