I'm looking for my Great Grandfather Pietro Molinaro. He was probably born around 1870 and died before 1913. In 1913 his wife (Angelina Scalesi) & family immigrated to the US through Philadelphia. Also, he was probably from Serrastretta, as that is where my grandmother is from.

I don't have any other information on him other that his name.

Previous thread for reference:
www.gentedimaregenealo...amp;t=2809

Since son Natale listed his mother, Angelina Scalise, as his nearest relative in Italy on his 1909 manifest, and since his sister Filomena was born in 1900, it's my belief that Pietro passed away between 1899 and 1909, likely in Italy.

Not knowing Pietro's exact birth year is somewhat problematic but I'd still write a letter to the records office in Serrastretta requesting Angelina Scalise's birth and marriage acts since we know she was born about 1868 based on the 1913 manifest. Her marriage act should include Pietro's age and his parents' names as well as Angelina's parents' names.

Biff:

I wrote the letter and it will go out in the mail today.

I went to the Ellis Island web site and found the ship manifest. But why can I only see half the page. I notice that when I go on this site that I can see either the right side page or the left side page (which has the names). Am I doing something wrong?

In looking at the text version of the manifest I noticed there was a Giuseppa Scalise right above Natale, a Federico Scalise travelling on this ship, & Giuseppe Scalise travelling on this ship. All are from Serrastretta. I guess I can assume that Natale was traveling with relatives.

BTW, thanks for the earlier information. I knew that Natale came over earlier that the rest of his family, but did not know when.

On two page manifests, you need to hit the Previous or Next buttons to see the other page. Below are the two pages.
