Doing some more research,I note that a lot of Marchios came from the Patrona area, would be interested in an Antonnio Marchio married to a Caterina Raso, would appreciate any info one might offer.

I Understand my Father was born in 1888,FATHER Antonio,Mothers name unknown,Grandmother's name said to have been Raso.Dad had brother Francesco who remained in Italy. We were told he and his Father Gueseppe, and Gueseppe's brother Bruno(mike) arrived in Ellis Island 1903.They settled in Middletown,Pa.My Grandfather remarried an Ellen ?,and is buried in Elizabethtown,Pa. Dad said the Family were farmers in Italy.Bruno settled in Sommerville ,NJ.Bruno visited frequently when I was young,he passed at 96 in late 1960's or early 1970's.Would appreciate any ties to the Family!

Well after playing around with the Petrona records for the last few hours and using the info you provided as well as ancestry I believe this: - Hopefully I have the right family here!

A 15 year Antonio, ( Antonio Marchia May 06, 1903 Bremen 0025) your father did come over in 1903 with his uncle, Giacinto, born abt 1868. The name is mis spelled on the transcription as Marchia but the manifest is correct. It appears his mother had just passed. They were going to see Giacinto's brother, Antonio's father in Elizabethtown PA, Giuseppe Antonio.

www.ellisisland.org/se...2643100456

It says they came from Siambiase which is only about an hour from Petrona and they may have just said that because it was better known or after Antonio's mother died he was staying with someone in Siambiase until his relatives picked him up. . However, I can not find Antonio's birth record in 1888 in Petrona -

Also, Bruno was born in 1888 but I can find no record of his birth in Petrona. He also lists on his WW2 Draft Card he is from Siambiase.

I have a feeling your grandfather may have been from Petrona but perhaps your grandmother was from Siambiase.

Giuseppe did remarry a woman named Ellen who had been married a few times but was a widow about 1902. She died prior to 1920. Giuseppe was still alive in 1930.

I will keep looking because I have one more idea..

I'm glad I have the right family - and even happier I copied everything I found down this morning. lol

Have you pieced together all your family in the US yet? Your Grandfather had a VERRRY large family.

I believe your father was Antonio Giuseppe (or Giuseppe Antonio) who was married to Mary Coble. He was born on 18 Jan 1888. They had 14 living children including your father.

He had a brother, Bruno born 17 Feb 1880 who was married to 'Jane'.

Another brother, Francesco remained in Italy you said. I found the Raso name in Siambiase so I would look there for your grandfather's birth act. I don't think it's online so we will need to see about ordering it from Italy or if you're willing, rent the microfilm from the local FHS and search the film yourself.

The Marchio name is defintiely found in Petrona and there is a Facebook for the town. The Admin has a database of people from Petrona so we should contact her and see if has your great grandfather and his brothers in it.

Need to get some rest since I have a 3 am start tomorrow but I did manage to chart all the siblings of your dad with birth and death info. If you like I can post them here tomorrow afternoon.

Hi Bill - Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. It looks like your father's brother Francesco - born abt 1876-1877 also made a few trips to the US to see his dad. Here are the links to the ship manifests -

Francesco 1907 I notice on this manifest he is traveling with someone whose surname is Raso...

Francesco1903

Your grandfather Giuseppe looks like he arrived in 1900..
Giuseppe Ship Manifest He does state he is married here so it looks like Caterina may have died, (but not necessarily) between 1900 and 1902 when he married Ellen.

BTW- Your Coble family has great roots. So far I see they pretty much have always been from Pennsylvania. You also have German (?) roots????

Hi Bill-
Not sure how I missed this message but somehow I did!

To order films from the family history center you go here:

familysearch.org/searc...tId=381102

Do a place look up (Sambiase) and then look for the films and the years that you are interested in.

I would be particularly interested in looking at these two films if I were you since I think it should have all or much of the info you want to check..

Nati 1872-1902 [alcuni registri mancano] FHL INTL Film 2164073 Items 5 - 6
Nati 1903-1904, 1906-1910 -- Pubblicazioni di matrimonio 1870-1909 [alcuni registri mancano] -- Matrimoni 1879-1907 [alcuni registri mancano] -- Morti 1880-1910 [alcuni registri mancano] -- Atti di cittadinanza 1905, 1909. FHL INTL Film 2164074 Items 1 - 5

Order the films following the instructions on the site. A credit card is needed and tell them which family history center you want them sent to. It's helpful to know this in advance. You can locate the closet one to you here:

familysearch.org/locations

When your film arrives someone from the FHC will call you. You then make an appointment to go down and view them. I believe you have a month to do it before they are sent back to Salt Lake. Bring with you a flash drive to copy any records you might want - or you could photo copy them from the film but they charge you for it. However, the copies are usually pretty good if you adjust the settings correctly (a volunteer from the Center should be able to help you with this).

That's pretty much it. You're lucky - most of the info should be on these two films instead of 5 or ten films. Let me know once you order them and I can walk you through what to do next.

Dad was said to have come from Sambiase, but we think his Mother Caterina Raso/Marchio,may have been from Sambiase, and my Grandfather from Petrona or Cerva area.My Dad always said he inherited a farm, and that his Uncle Francesco, and Uncle Giacento were farming the land in his absence.Do not know too much more,Do not think my Grandmother got to USA,MyGrandfather Giuseppe Antoio Marchio re-married in Lancaster,Pa.
