I am new to this.....looking for information regarding my PGF, Giuesippi Pinto from Cosenza region, born 1 August 1890. He arrived in NY, thru Ellis Island in 1906. I have no information on his parents or siblings.....would appreciate any help you can offer.

Do you have Giuseppe's ship manifest? If so, can you post it for us to see. There are so many Giuseppe Pinto's that arrived through Ellis Island in 1906 so it would really help.

biff.......thank you......I already have the Social Security info, but was not aware I could get a copy of his original SS application......I will write for that and hopefully get more of my missing information.

Almost all of my fathers siblings have passed on, so I am limited in getting more information from relatives, but my father always told me that his father came from the Calabria region........he married Antoinette Aloise in New York.....I have recently discovered that Aloise may not actually be her maiden name.....but can't be sure yet.

I figured the record was misspelled and is was..I think this could be him.

wow........you guys are so helpful..........I have the census information and you have the correct Pinto with that, but I did not have the marriage info. That will help a lot. I am going to take biff's suggestion and write for a copy of his original social security application to see if that has information on his parents........

wow......I didn't realize it had been this long since I posted here. The holidays and all have kept me very busy, but I have finally obtained a copy of my grandfather's original Social Security application. His father was Carlo Pinto and his mother's name was Elena......unfortunately he didn't put his mother's maiden name, he listed her as Elena Pinto. He lists his place of birth as Cassano allo Ionio( not sure if I spelled that correctly, the handwriting isn't too good). I'm also confused now about his date of birth, everything else shows Aug. 2 1890 but this shows Sept 3 1890. Now how do I go about getting his birth certificate from Italy?
