I have no idea how to search for my mothers father. I also dont have a lot of information about him other that birthday and death date and name. I dont know if he had any family. Thats really what I am looking for - for my mother. She lost her sister and my grandmother and although she has my sisters and I -- She's feeling a little lost.

Vincenzo Buo/Bua
Born 21 August 1897
Died June 1985

All I have seen is Vieste, Foggia, Puglia, Italy.

Can anyone help or point in the right direction? I tried ancestry.com and got no where fast...other than the ship's log when he came over to the US. Which we matched to his passport/naturalization number.

I've tried familysearch.org as well. Not sure where else I need to go to get some information for my mom.

Vieste is Southern Italy...

You may write to:
Comune di Vieste - Ufficio di Stato Civile
Corso L. Fazzini 29
71019 Vieste FG
Italy

and request for a "Copia Integrale dell'atto di Nascita" (birth act) of Vincenzo. The record will contain his parents' names.

Form letters in Italian can be found at:

www.circolocalabrese.o...s/letters/ and www.angelfire.com/ok3/...tters.html

check out Pagine Bianche:

www.paginebianche.it/r...e+%28FG%29

for families with the same cognome when I searched for Buo and Vieste.

Vieste is a really beautiful little town on the Adriatico; it is also the site of a mass beheading by the Turks after they invaded the town. My cousin showed us a large stone where the executions took place.

It's a baptism certificate (Fede di Battesimo) Released by the Parish of the Saint Sacrament in Viesti on Feb 2 1959.
I undersigned certify that according the register #1, page 223 of the baptized book:
Vincenzo Santoro, son of Maurantonio and of Laura Maria Bua, born 2 Jan 1952, received the Saint Baptism on 6 Jan 195 by the priest Antonio Spolitino. Godfather was Pasquale Ninni

Thank you so much for the translation! Now its strange to me why my grandfather would have that .....as he was born in 1897 Sad

Im so confused. I hope that my letter brings something along!
