I am seeking information concerning my family's surname of Finocchiaro.

I know my grandfather was Sebastian Finocchiaro. He married Carmela Scalia. He immigrated in 1909 on the ship Virginia. My grandmother Carmela arrived on the same ship but in 1910.

I am seeking any finocchiaro relatives that were known to be related from Giarre, CT and other areas. It is believed that my grandparents were married in Santa Venerina.

I have other finocchiaro relatives here in CNY but have failed to connect them with documentation since I am not sure where they (my grandparents) were married or lived before coming to the US.

Cities that the family are from are Linguaglossa, Castiglione,
Acireale,

I would like to narrow down the possibilities if someone can assist me as to how best to do the research.

Sometime ago I did send for information in Giarre. I was sent some incorrect data. Also, not all information is online with Ancestry or digitizes with their system.

Any assistance would be most welcome as to the best direction to go on this. I have written for this help on another forum but the name is too common to narrow down there. They were all so willing to help too!

FINOCCHIARO - Died at his home, 123 Walnut Street, April 24th,
Sabastiano Finocchiaro, aged 56 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Camillo Finocchiaro; three sons,
Angelo, Salvatore and John, all of Fulton, and two daughters,
Santina and Josephine, and three grandchildren.
The deceased, a native of Italy, had been a resident of this
city for the past 20 years.

CARMELLA FINOCCHIARO
Services for Mrs. Carmella Finocchiaro of 123 Walnut
Street, widow of Sebastiano Finocchiaro, who died
Sunday, were held at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Young
and Son Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family
Church. Burial was in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Finocchiaro, native of Italy, lived in Fulton
most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Church
and the Altar-Rosary Society of the Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Maugeri and
Mrs. Anthony Cali of Fulton; three sons, Angelo and
John Finocchiaro of Fulton and Samuel Finocchiaro of
Rochester; several grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs.
Angela Raciti of New York City.
