My name is Susan Washburn Markuson, and I reside in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

I am trying to find relatives on my father’s side of my family. My father (now deceased) is Benjamin Glitton Washburn (b.1934), the son of Samuel Washburn and Mary Louise Washburn (born Luigia Bianca Genisi).

I understand that my father’s grandfather (Arturo Eugene Genisi) was born in Rome, Italy. My father’s grandmother (Filomena Frangione) was born in Amantea, Italy (12 March 1884) to Antonio Frangione and Teresa.

I have a copy of the CERTIFICATO DI NASCITA belonging to my grandmother, Luigia Bianca Genisi, the daughter of Arturo and Filomena. The CERTIFICA for the COMUNE DI AMANTEA, Provincia di Cosenza states my grandmother’s birthdate as ventisei agosto 1907.

My grandmother (Luigia Bianca Genisi), along with her parents and her younger brother (Harry Genisi) remained in Amantea until 1914, when they immigrated to the United States and settled in Fairmont, West Virginia. During the journey, my grandmother’s name changed to Mary Louise Genise.

I will be making my 3rd visit to Italy in September of this year, and plan to include a visit to Amantea. Based on your previous recommendation I did an on-line search of the paginebianche which identified 14 individuals named Frangione living in Amantea. I will try to contact these individuals. I appreciate any guidance or knowledge that can be provided to help me learn the location of my grandmother’s home. And, I would certainly enjoy meeting anyone related to my family.
