I am currently researching my wife's grandparents Vito Pellerito (1888-1970) and Vita Serra(1897 - 1926) from Terrasini, Sicily. They immigrated in 1922 and settled in Detroit, MI where they both died. They were married in Terrasini sometime between 1918-1922. I believe it was 1922 as their first child was born in 1923. I have been trying to find some type of marriage document but haven't had any luck with what is online. Can someone help me locate this info?

Here is something to try,,Send an email to Terrasini and ask for the
marriage record. The letter written in Italian can be constructed using
language translators on line. If you are fortunate, Terrasini will respond.

Hi Den,

I'm starting to research my husband's family. They are from Terrassini as well. We found a Vito Pellerito on our line. I don't think it's the same guy though, because our Vito had a daughter, Rosalia (my husbands great grandma), in Terrassini 1890. However, Italian tradition is to name your first born son after your father. Maybe your Vito is Rosalia's older brother? We are from Detroit Michigan as well. The family settled in a suburban city called Wyandotte. I am trying to find out Rosalia's siblings and learn if anybody stayed in Italy. (Rosalia immigrated in 1910). My husband and I moved here to Italy a year ago and we are going to Sicily in a few weeks. I really want to know If there is family here that we can meet! Her father, Vito, married Rosa Zerrilli (maybe just one r).

I just thought about it and if your Bito was my Rosalia's brother than he would be named after his dad, not the grandfather, which doesn't follow custom. Sorry. But anyhow, maybe they didn't follow the custom, or it's a cousin or something. Sorry! I just wanted to clarify!
