Trying to find the village my grandmother came from. San Pietro di ....something, of which there are many in southern Italia. My great-grandfather was Joseph (Giuseppe) Tarsitano, married to Maria Teresa Brescia.

Thank you,
Bonnie Melielo

welcome...this might help a little bit, but it shows the name in 79 communities:

www.gens.info/italia/i...5&y=11

You may want to use this website with all the names to see if you can narrow it down:

www.paginebianche.it/r...&of=16

Good luck

Sounds without thinking here like either San Pietro in Amantea or San Pietro in Guarano. Both are in Cosenza.

Yes, i would go with Nuccia on Cosenza and say the nearest town being San Pietro in Guarano, Italy!

Hello Bonnie Very Happy

Without knowing the name and age of your grandmother, I am posting
this Naturalization Record for a Joseph Tarsitano married to a Maria with several children .

Just a guess.
Paul

Thanks all who replied!! Nuccia I am curious as to why San Pietro in Guarano e Amantea came so quickly to mind? Those are exactly the towns other people have pointed to also. Particularly because the dialect my family spoke was Alberesh/Albanese! Apparently there are a lot of Tarsitano in the area of Cosenza. I have requested copies of my great grandparents death certificates from the State of NY. I am hope, hope hoping there will be information on them. Even if the town is not there their parents names would be very helpful. I actually have a photo of my great, great grandparents - the parents of my great grandfather Tarsitano!! It is very precious!!
