Trying to find any records for my grandfather who was born in Siderno. He was born out of wedlock so was named by the state who gave him the last name of Novito. I believe his mothers name was Triccolo.

My grandmother came from Riaci and her last name was Piccolo. Her father was killed after which time her mother left and moved to Patagonia so she was raised by her grandmother with the last name of Vigliarolo until she came to America at the age of 14.

Do the churches still carry records of baptisms, etc.? I am really unsure on how to begin such a search.

Any and all help will be appreciated Very Happy

Also looking for Sacco/Collela families from Montemiletto. My great grandfather was Carmine Sacco and my great grandmother was Albina Collela.

Thanks!! And so happy to have found this page!

What year was your grandfather born in? There are civil records available for rent from the LDS which you can order online and view at your nearest family history center/library. Yes churches still have the baptism records but I would try for civil records first. They're easier to obtain and free of charge. Other than viewing the films you could write to Siderno (or the other town halls) directly and request the records you want.
