My letter from Paola

I finally received something from Paola!! WOO HOO!! It is not what I asked for but it gave me the name I wanted. I asked for a copy of the marriage act and pubblicazione record for my grandfather's sister Emilia DeSeta. What I received was some sort of extract form that gave me the names, ages and birthplaces of the bride and groom. So now I know Emilia married Peppino (I thought that was a nickname Confused

) Sinforoso. I have looked for that surname in Paola and extended the search to Calabria in Pagine Bianche. Not one listing. Crying or Very sad

Not one. So what does this mean? They had no children? His whole family had no children? I don't know what to think but I am very sad right now.

I have checked many provinces in Central and Northern Italy as well. Nothing again. Is this even a legitimate surname?

Do you think that the person who wrote the surname misread the handwriting on the original act and it is some other name?

It is possible - that is what I am afraid of. The only other alternatives I can think of would be he was an only son and had no children or an orphan with a made up surname.

I did not look there. So, if you were me, would you write them? I guess I will try to write them although I don't have much hope that they would be from Paola. But if I don't ask, I will never know. Thanks Livio.

Sure, I think you should write them. You have nothing to lose. Google the name too and see if you come up with anything.

Oh gosh Cathy....I would hate for that to be a made up name and he was orphaned. I know that tale too well.

I know - your Carmeloni is what made me think of it. I will keep looking for more and write the 2 Livio found. Thanks again Livio! kiss
