Dear Biff,
In 1994 Vince and I visited for a family reunion - I photographed the graves in New Jersey. Thats how I received the dates of births and DOD's.
I'll check with Vince's nephew Joseph Muller from Clifton, NJ to find out name of cemetery. Joseph (Joe) knew where the graves were. I'am 19 yrs younger than my husband Vincent who will be 86 this month and not in good health. Been hard to get Birth and Death Certificates from Australia via my computer to USA. Joseph is my husbands (late ) sister Josephine's son - he is married to Josephine - no children.
I have photograph ( old style ) but, will probably have to put programe on my computer to upload the photo - photos.
Please keep in touch. Still reading and taking in your information.
Many thanks,
Sheilagh La Greca Smile

Hi Sheilagh,

Let us know if the records posted thus far are correct. If so, I've located other census records for LaGrecas in Garfield in 1930 which I can post.

Hi Buff83,
Thanks, your amazing all the information you have found for me.
I spoke to my husband Vincent - about, the La Grecas' that live at 102 Lanza Ave, he fainly remembers some of them, and is not sure if they were relatives. He remembered Carmella and Mary La Greca they were about Vinces age in 1920.
The 1903 Manifest for Vincenzo La Greca probably is a different person to his grandfather - as Vince said his grandfather live at Lanza Ave and Morris (33) Ave Garfield, the last street for the rest of their lives.
From what I've read to - sounds like a lot of La Grecas came from Mussomel, love tobe able to prove this in the future in my research on Vinces family.
Their is a Manuel La Greca in the photo I have, but, he was supposed to have (drowned ) when he was 23. So ( my ) Vince doesn't about the Manuel who was born Mussomel. region of Sicily. Could be related- be hard to prove.
The 1920 Census -son Joseph La Greca, Widowed - (actually, he was divorced ) probably in those days they didn't let on.Vincent8, Josephine 6, ..- grandparents Vincent ( or vincenzo) 73 and Josephine La Greca 73 is correct . Vincents & Josephines mother remarried later on and he married name was Liptak.
1902 Vincenzo in the manifest - hard to say if correct - Could be?
1914 - Vince doesn't know -
Page 2 - Vince says no - his grandparents never lived in Passaic - and he says there were lots of La Grecas - just like the name "Smith.
Like yourself, I'll keep trying to find out his grandparents, parents names -
Sure keeps me up late at night - very interesting.
Thank you again, Biff 83 for your help.
Regards,
Sheilagh La Greca
