But the certificates from the British Government Records Office (GRO) only cost £7.00, and the 'turnround' time is the same... So these seem quite expensive IMHO!

Carole,
I have tried to navigate in the site but I was not able to fiind the right form to be filled and proceed with the order...

Sorry Livio,
You do have to register with them to navigate and search fully. It is free:

you can do so on this certificate ordering page too....

Thanks a lot, I don't know how to check. The only thing I know is that James was rich, he owned a yacht and traveled around the world.

I have received the Marriage record of James Drake and Jane Moore:

Strange enough the birth dates are missing, but now I know that James' father was Moses and Jane's father was James Adolphus.

There are a couple of things that I cannot decipher: The name of the Chapel and Jane's condition. And which is the name of the town where they got married?

Town is The Sardinian Chapel, the district of 'St. Giles in the Fields', St Georges, Bloomsbury, in the County of Middlesex (Bloomsbury is a part of London)

Janes condition is 'Spinster'...

I think you will find >THIS<this interesting

I believe these are Jane Moore's parents in the 1851 Census (They are in Westminster by then, still The City of London I believe)

James Adolphus Moore 1851 Census

In 1861 we learn James is from County Cork Ireland

James Adolphus Moore 1861 Census

notice how James' son Alfred is listed as having been born in "St. Pancras" in 1836. That places the family in St. Pancras, which works well with the residence of your Jane Moore at the time of her 1846 marriage. We won't even go into the fact there is only one James Adolphus Moore in London during this period, and with a wife named Jane....

Pretty compelling evidence. Also, Jane (his wife) even lists the town in Cork County Ireland she was born in.

It looks to be "Ring, County Cork" which is in the Civil Parish of Kilmacdonogh.

also I found this:

Parish of Saint George, Hanover Square, County Middlesex (London)

Page 88

James Adolphus Moore married Jane Austen 26 February 1828

From The Cork Examiner, 3 December 1861
On the 26th ult., at his residence, 2, Tenterden-street,
Hanover-square, London, aged 71, James Adolphus Moore, Esq.,
R.M.A., grandson of Sir Emanuel Moore, Bart., county of Cork."

Wow!! Nobility!

James Adolphus Moore's Military Record

here is information on the Moore's of Cork:

This is great Livio. I was at my FHC today and tried looking for the 10 children of James and Jane born in Ireland. The films were limited and I did check the following.....

Years 1753 through 1870 - baptisms, marriages and burials
Film number - 962187 items 6 through 10

Parish register of Santry diocese of Dublin
Parish register of Ahascragh diocese of Elphin
Parish register of Nobber diocese of Meath....Meath county
Parish register of Donaghmore - St. Michaels church - Castlecaulfield...Tyrone county

I listed the following films and Cathy is going to check her FHC to see if they may have them on loan........

571395
571396
100226 item 1
883859 item 1
883875 item 3
900657
900663
900664
900665
900666
900667
900668
900669
900670
900671
900672
900673
909898

Anyone else that wants to check their FHC feel free. The 10 children born in Ireland are listed earlier in the post.

Congratulations Livio Very Happy

The certifiate lists her age as minor...........would that mean for that time period she was under 18 or under 21? Looks like his age is listed as full age.
