#106: Re: SURNAME Database -- Please read!! Author: nuccia, Location: Toronto, Ontario, CanadaPosted: Tue Jul 01, 2008 1:14 pm ---- Thanks Tom..I checked the css and everything looks ok. Not sure why some PC's view it differently. I can only assume it may be a resolution issue with the different monitors...could this be possible?
#107: Re: SURNAME Database -- Please read!! Author: stevenspringer, Location: Port Jefferson Station, NYPosted: Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:11 pm ---- How can i add my surnames to the list?
Include only last names, province and Region plus the name you would like to be known by and a valid email address. I will add the names as I have time (some weeks are slower than others depending on how many names I have to add).
I will also try to remember to add lilbees names...sometimes I forget to check this thread for updates..always best to use the feedback form.
Thanks

#110: Re: SURNAME Database -- Please read!! Author: lynne, Posted: Fri May 08, 2009 3:47 pm ---- I've just submitted an e-mail to have my maternal surname (Ali) added to the list. I'm hoping to find other members with the same surname.
#113: Re: SURNAME Database -- Please read!! Author: MariLouise, Location: OhioPosted: Tue Jul 21, 2009 12:38 pm ---- My grandfather (my father's father), Domenico De Sole, was born in Santa Severina on July 7, 1889. He emigrated to the states in 1910. He was married to Assunta Giacinto (from Crotone) on February, 1913 in Mesoraca in the province of Catanzaro. I think my grandmother was an orphan. I believe he had one or two brothers and a sister. They had settled in West Virginia, then my grandfather moved to Youngstown, Ohio to work on the railroad. His siblings moved back to Italy (at least a brother, who died there). I had originally gotten a statement of No Record from Mesoraca regarding his birth certificate and am currently waiting to hear from Santa Severina.

Why not list the names you are researching as part of your 'signature' - that way anybody - even visitors can see and you never know (it HAS happened) someone might recognise one of your names. If you notice, we all do this, so why not you too..
(BTW I haven't forgotten that I still owe you an answer via e-mail!)
Your paternal grandfather was from Catanzaro? I am looking at his ship manifest as if I am reading it correctly, looks like it says he was born in Seminara (which is close to Soverato)

I can not link the manifest but he states he was born in Mesuraca on this one, and that he is leaving his wife, Giacinata and going to his cousin in West Virginia. Hopefully someone can link for you.
If worse come to worse, you could try writing to the Archives in Catanzaro for his military draft registration records. That should list his birth place if I am not mistaken. Here's where we need our Italian friends to help.

Clearly lists Catanzaro as his hometown. More and more I am starting to think writing to Catanzaro Comune a good idea.
