#1: Documents In English!!! Author: Carole, Location: Valtellina - Near Lake ComoPosted: Fri Oct 10, 2008 2:50 am ---- I had reason to call a (very) small comune in Sicily yesterday regarding a birth certificate that had been requested but, despite a long wait, never received.
Having discussed the problem (seems the FAX 'got lost'), and providing the details again to the Registrar it was agreed that she would deal with the matter immediately for me. She then asked me if I wanted the document in ENGLISH.....
I said I wasn't aware that this was possible to which she replied
"Oh yes, we can prepare them in several languages here".
I asked if it was possible to have a copy in English AND Italian? She was more than happy to do so.
This registrar spoke very good English as she explained that she lived in the USA for many years - so maybe that was lucky. But it looks as if it may be worth enquiring whether documents can be provided in English as well as Italian. What a great 'time saver' if some other comunes do that too!
