Two of my father's elder brothers were in a workhouse school for sometime. Considering there were already (at that time) nine shildren at home I suppose that was understandable. I haven't found any proof of the later additions - another EIGHT - being put into a workhouse. Of the seventeen children my grandparents had, only thirteen survived.
