Well, Nuccia, being her usual helpful self pointed out a website that might be helpful for me relating to photographs. giornale

As it turned out it was much, much more. Razz

It is Rootschat.com.

Well, let me tell you, the site has been helpful since I have been researching the family of my ex for my children. Now, I have gained two additional generations for them going back to 1700. All well documented in the Parish records, etc. (Cornwall) Since my children are involved with this part of their genealogy they get to send and pay for the actual records. Thank goodness, too expensive for me.

This forum has been very forthcoming with additional information and leads for that family. I am amazed at the amount of information I have gained.

Just a big THANK YOU!!!!! to Nuccia once again. kiss

HELP NUCCIA WHERE ARE YOU - HOW CAN I MAKE THE FORM SMALLER? Rolling Eyes

Oh dear lilbees Embarassed
I thought people knew about Rootschat.com
I've been a member for 3 years and you're right, they have some great forums. They are well woth belonging to. It was members there, together with Nuccia (who introduced me too) who finally found details of my grandmother.

You're right, for English genealogy, they are great. Like you, I got another missing piece to the jigsaw of my family when on Monday I actually downloaded the 1911 Census (see attachment) for my great grandfather and his family. This was the first Census where the householders filled out thier own forms, so I can see his handwriting and his own signature. It's quite a strange feeling, but very satisfying.

Sorry I haven't been around today..I still have one child home very sick so I have been trying to take care of him and get things done around here at the same time.

lilbees..I am so glad you found the site helpful and you are very welcome. As you know we mainly concentrate on Italian genealogy here (although we are learning about how to research elsewhere). Carole and I have always felt, since ours is a non profit site, that the only way to truly help our members is provide resources on how and where to research. This just proves that its worth it.

Were they able to help with that picture? I know Joe did some work on it and I have been trying but I am such a novice. Please, let me know.

Carole..wow! I am going to have a look at that census and see if I can piece anything together. I kept all the original information on your family in my files for just such and occasion (well..ok, I mainly kept it because I would probably forget everything if I didn't have a hard copy of it). Ok..I fixed the file so you can relax now!

Well..the folks just popped in so going to make coffee. Be back later for a bit and then hopefully off to the FHC for more records. I have a helper on the Calabria Exchange Mary H. who has been extracting records for me like crazy! I can't keep up with her so I have to go and get more. I am so blessed that SHE found me!

Hugs to all! Very Happy

Joe removed his picture fix. After looking more closely at my work I decided it was not a very good effort. Still working on it... Joe B

First of all, thank you Joe and Nuccia for your efforts with the photo. I was so distracted with the new forum I was introduced to that in my excitement I forgot about the picture. Rolling Eyes

Dear Carole and Nuccia, you know, I have been pounding my head against a brickwall with this family for a long time. It only took one simple question on that forum and it opened up so much. There were postings almost immediately with the answer I was needing and lots and lots of links to search through. More than I was ever aware of for England and in particular for Cornwall. Shocked

I hope the process for obtaining documents is easy as well. think

Links for searching around the world are great. Could use a lot more. Maybe we can have a section for that. adminpower

Yes you get most documents from the GRO (Government Records Office) they usussally -BMD - cost £7 each so make sure you order the right one. NO refunds...

They are of good quality too - here's one (of the many) that I got from them. This is for an 'overseas birth' - of my maternal grandmother...

Definitely a thought. I did start creating a page actually so maybe I will work on it a bit and link it here. Smile
