#1: Need some help please (Italian) Author: Cathy, Posted: Sat Jun 12, 2010 1:23 pm ---- I had given up on the Catasto because there was too much I did not understand. The Catasto is not as simple as the basic format of the stato records for a person who does not have a grasp of the language. But it is not in my nature to give up. I have decided to index the entire Catasto in alphabetical order by surname and will put it online to benefit all people with roots in Montalto and the surrounding areas. In order to to that I need to understand some of what I am seeing. I understand "Fuoco" is like head of household. However many of the pages have a written section that mention various names in it context. I have no idea what is written in these sections and why these names are there. Perhaps they own the property the head of households live on? here is a page that is an example of that. The paragraph under Antonio Bruno and his family mentions Antonio Saulini, Giuseppe Maddalena(?) and Giuseppe Corno. Can someone tell me what the paragraph says so I can understand why they were mentioned? This will really help me figure out how to index all of this. I really appreciate it.

Since I left my glasses in the car, and Lou is out with it right now I can't be sure. Hopefully someone can confirm this because it all looks so interesting.

Angelo has a land in a place called La Vigna della Corte near Giuseppe Maddalena and Giuseppe Corno(!), with vines, fig-trees, trees fruit; this land yelds (gives a profit of?) 15 carlini per year, but it's burden with a tax of 10 carlini in favour of the Camera Ducale of Montalto. So Angelo is considered to have a value of 5 once from this land and 12 once from his work: for this "income" he must pay once 3 and carlini 1 (one is written in letters, but in numbers it appears to be 10!).
I'm not able to decipher how is obtained the result (13 once and 20 carlini).
