Hey Everyone,

I found an Atto di Solenne Promessa di Matrimonio for someone I believe to be an uncle. I am posting here, because I need some help with what it says. It comes from Castiglione Di Sicilia, and is dated 16 Jan 1860.

I believe it says: Giuseppe Savoca age 24, born in (Garigrona???) district and province of Trapani, bracciale. Son of Giovanni Savoca, 55, bracciale and Maria Rizzo age 57.

I would really like to figure out what town is listed as his place of birth. His brother was my GGG-grandfather Vincenzo, who was born 9 Sep 1838, in Castiglione Di Sicilia (I have his birth record).

Does anyone have an idea of what the town could be? And did I get the parents' names right?

Thanks for the help!!

Thanks Charlie and Livio for your help. I believe you are correct Livio, Favignana does seem to fit perfectly. It is interesting becuase today there are no Savocas or Rizzos in Favignana, but both are very popular names in Castiglione. I will have to look for Giovanni and Maria's marriage/death records to see where they were born. If they were born in Castiglione, how did they end up in Favignana? I love these kinds of puzzles.

Hi everyone,
I need a bit of a hand again. I have a death record for my 5th great grandmother Angela Vaneri. I would really like to know what the exact meaning of what is written here. I actually find Angela to be interesting. In 1826, her older son's marriage record lists her as being 60, in 1842 her younger son's marriage record shows her age to be 61! I know they often might have guessed on these things, but that makes me smile lol. Here is the area I would like translated, I just can't quite say for sure what it says. Thank you in advance!!

Mike

Hi Guys,

I was wondering If I could get some ideas of the mother's maiden name on this death record? I'm not quite sure exactly what it says, and I just want another set of eyes. Thanks for the help!
