I am trying to "lock down" a .PDF file so that it is "read only", no edit, copy or print. PRIMO PDF has this capability (under security option), but for some reason I have never been able to get Primo PDF to work under WIN/7-64bit after numerous attempts and versions. I also have used do PDF ver7 but while works with WIN/7-64bit it does not have the security feature.

Any suggestions for other products (preferably free).

Thanks

Does Microsoft have this capability as well?

Yes. I'm not sure but I think there is an option to save as PDF and as read only. Since I don't have Window's 7 or Microsoft 2010 I can't be sure but perhaps you can play around with it and let us know?

I was able to save the Word DOC as a PDF, but I was unable to set any security switches. Not sure if MS will allow that.

I guess the security settings are part of the standard PDF file format, but software capabiloty is needed to make it functional.

Sorry Charlie. I'll ask around and see if I can find anything out for you. Thanks for updating us.
