I am trying to find records of my ancestors who migrated from Spain (do not know the area) to San Fele Basilicata. Last name Lorenzo and possibly Crecco. Where should I start? This would be the late 1700s

You need to work backwards - it's the only way. Eventually you will find someone who died in Italy that was born in Spain but that would mean to working back using civil records as far back as you can and then possibly using Church records. How far have you gotten so far?

Thank you. I have reached my gr gr gr gr grandfather who was born in 1821. My fathers relatives told him that the Lorenzo family came from Spain.
