so much to say - Trying to locate records for my great great grandparents as well as great grandparents. My maternal great great grandparents were from Colosimi . Their names were Nicola Talarico and Vincenza Rizzuto born in 1848 or so. Paolo Talarico my great grandfather was born in 1873 in Colosimi as well. His brothers Sebastiano (1875) and Angelo (1882) followed. I have located enlistment records in the Archivio Di Stata Cosenza. I am waiting on the documents to arrive.
I also have great grandparents from the Commune of Paterno Calabro. Maria Casciaro was married to Paolo Talarico. She was born in Paterno Calabro in 1874 - She came to the USA with Her brother Carlo's wife Rosina Turco and traveled to Kansas. Her sister Angelina came to the USA with their brother Guiseppi and stayed in the Kingston area of New York. Carlo and Rosina returned to Paterno Calabro with three children and one on the way. Francesco was born after the trip back to Italy. He had children one of which still lives in Paterno . I have been to his home and have met his wife , daughter, her husband and children.
My great, Great grandmother Chiara Vigliatore , my great grandmother Rosa Naccarato , and her daughter Maretta Martino(3) traveled to the USA in 1910 to be with my great grandfather Vincenzo Martino. My grandmother was born 10 months after their arrival in the USA. They stopped in the Kingston area to see her uncle Fortunato Naccarato before continuing on to Kansas.
There was a fire or earthquake in the late 1800's that destroyed many records in Paterno Calabro but I continue to look.

My great grandfather Vincenzo Martino was an orphan raised by a Marello family. We have his military records with n.n. and n.n. listed for parents.

I am always searching - always looking for more.

I have not been able to find where my great great grandmother Chiara Vigliatore died. She was in the 1915 Kansas Census and gone in the 1920. I don't know if she died in the USA or if she returned to Italy. This is my story and I am so happy to know this much but have the need for more!!

It appears that vital records for Paterno Calabro have been microfilmed and are available at for rental and viewing at Family History Centers.

Likewise for Colosimi.
