Was New Rochelle, NY a common place for Italian Immigrants from San Fili to go to? It's strange because my Lio g-grandfather went there, where his wife and toddler joined him. Their 5 daughters were born there including my grandma Jenny. They left because a woman's head was found on one of the neighbor's mailboxes...ick.
Went to Plainfield, NJ after that and stayed there until the last decade or so...

Annie, welcome to Gente. Oh my! A womans head in a mailbox! How horrible! There were plenty of San Filese in Chicago too.
I see you are researching Chiapetta's in Rende - you have your work cut out for you! So many Chiapetta's there! There are also a lot in Marano Marchesato and surrounding towns including my grandfather's town of Montalto Uffugo. If we can help, let us know.
