Searching for grandparents information and that previous generations.

My father Giuseppe was born in FIRMO, Cosenza (1908) and migrated to Argentina with parents Angiolo GIOIA and Rosina GANGALE in 1909 from the port of Genova on the Rio Amazonas Steamship (arr. 7/6/1909).

I am not able to proceed with genealogy search; Gioia is a dead end at the location, although I have my father's birth cert.; Gangale has a 100-year gap (1800-1900) on my search of published vital records, mostly catasti onciario of surrounding villages. Firmo catasto of 1753 is not published.

If anyone has any information linking Angiolo Gioia born c.1883 or Rosina Gangale born c.1886, please communicate in either English, Italian or Spanish.

I am conducting my own genealogy project and my main interest is connecting the dots as far back as possible.

Have you already tried the Cosenza State Archive site?

They seem to have a few listings for GIOIA's and GANGALE's from Firmo.
