Salvatore & Maria's son's Pasquale's birth act from 1884 in Santo Stefano, bottom left

Born at 11:48 AM on 8 Dec 1884 in a house at Via ?
Father Salvatore, son of the living Pasquale, age 28, a "borgese"--middle class person?
Mother, Maria Mortellaro, daughter of the deceased Angelo

This gives us the father's names of both Salvatore and Maria.

Yes, my great grandmother's name was Maria Cacciatore. I took a trip to Ybor city and have several photos of the grave site if anyone is interested. Thanks for the info on Salvatore's father!

There's a Maria M. Cacciatore also buried there whose birth and death dates are closer to your initial post. Middle initial M for Mortellaro??

Is this your great grandparents' 1900 census? Line 77 and following.

Salvador Caccetore Head M Italy
Maria Caccatore Wife F Italy
Pasqual Caccetore Son M Italy
Maria Caccetore Daughter F Italy
Angelo Caccetore Son M Italy
Phulepa Filippa) Caccetore Daughter F Florida
Josephina Caccetore Daughter F Florida

If so based on the birth act of Pasquale above, it follows the naming conventions--first son named after paternal grandfather--Pasquale; second son after maternal grandfather Angelo; first daughter after paternal grandmother, Maria Giuseppa, second daughter after maternal grandmother, Filippa.

Also found this record on familysearch; no image but here's how it is indexed

Name Salvadore Cacciatore
Gender Male
Christening Date 13 Sep 1856
Birth Date 12 Sep 1856
Birthplace Santo Stefano Quisquina, Agrigento, Italy
Father's Name: Pasquale Cacciatore, age 42-birth about 1814
Mother's Name Maria Giuseppa Pannino (likely correct spelling is Pennino), age 36, birth about 1820

Thank you so much. My grandfather is Joseph who was not born until later in 1900. I have the 1900 census. So kind of you all to help. Sad that I found info on Joe through Maffia.com LOL. Guess we all have a bad apple somewhere in the barrel. Joe married Martha but they had no children. She divorced his because of extreme abuse. I did find my father's half sister Yvonne after 50 years. He had a photo of her in her christening when she was about 3. She knew of a photo of my father when he was in high school band. When I called them, it was like an Oprah Winfrey moment. You could hear the excitement rising as I asked questions to a stranger about her father, Cacciatore. She and her daughter flew to meet my father and they had about 5 good years before she passed away from Parkinson. When my dad first saw her, he hugged her and you could see so many emotions lifted off both of them. You are all the BEST. God Bless

If the 1856 birth record for Salvatore, parents Pasquale and Maria Giuseppa Peninno, is correct. He had at least 4 sisters Teresa Maria, Andrea, Rosalia and Maria.

Andrea, born 15 Aug 1850
familysearch.org/ark:/...1:XVYK-NSX

Maria, born 7 Sep 1853
familysearch.org/ark:/...1:XVYK-NVZ

Teresa Maria, born 29 Jan 1848
familysearch.org/ark:/...1:XKZ4-PM2

Rosalia, born 3 Jun 1845
familysearch.org/ark:/...1:XK78-7BZ

I'm trying to locate Salvtore and Maria Mortellaro's marriage act which will have their parents' names.

There is no difference. Both mean Sam. Italians use use Salvatore more, while those in Argentina, Brazil and even North America might use Salvator.
