Need some explanation "stati delle anime"

I think this may have been covered before but can someone explain to me what information can be found in "Stati delle anime" records?

Stato d'anima records are Census' and Parish census records.

You will find on this link most of the Italian documents listed with their meanings. Hope it will help....

Has anyone out there asked for these records before? I'm curious to see what the best wording would be when asking for these records.

Do i give the name of the head of the household? What information would best facilitate a response

I think James got them once before..
If I'm not mistaken, he even posted a document once but I can't remember if it was on this board or the old one.
